Reception for "Not Forgotten" Exhibit with artist Erella Teitler

Join the Federation and JIMENA for a special art reception with Erella Teitler, creator of “Not Forgotten.” The exhibit aims to tell the story of the lost generation of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews born in the Middle East and North Africa from before they became refugees. The artist aims to enshrine this invisible Jewish community in their pride and glory, in the countries and communities in which they were born, grew up, established themselves and raised their families.

Erella Teitler
Erella Teitler was born in Israel. She lived in Burma, Canada, Nigeria, and Cameroon before moving to the United States. As an artist, she has been influenced by the many cultures, music styles, colors and landscapes she has experienced. Her mother and aunts also inspired her creativity through their work as fiber artists.

Erella earned a bachelor’s degree at David Yellin Teacher’s College in Israel. After graduation, she used her creativity as a teaching tool throughout the United States, Africa, and Israel. A few years ago, Erella began pursuing her own artistic talents, starting a business in jewelry making and exploring mixed media art.

Erella has been accepted into Women Painters West, and is a member of Collage Artists of America, Southern California Women’s Caucus for Art, and LA Experimental Artists. Today, she is a multimedia artist who works in collage, mixed media, altered books and mono prints. She has exhibited in juried shows, galleries, and numerous locations around Southern California. Her work is in private collections in Israel, Canada, and the United States.
