Program Assistant, Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards

This position reports to the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards Program Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Assistant provides general administrative support and coordination for the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards program, and is supervised by the Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards Program Director.

PROGRAM INFORMATION: 

The Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards annually recognizes and awards exceptional Jewish teens from California and from across the rest of the United States for outstanding volunteer tikkun olam leadership. Each recipient is awarded $36,000 to further their tikkun olam project or to help pay for their education. The award was launched in 2006 to recognize five annual recipients within California, and expanded in 2013 and 2014 to include an additional 10 US recipients.

The program’s annual cycle is comprised of several phases — promotion and processing of nominations and applications, management of committees and committee evaluation process, planning of annual Awards events, and year-round engagement of past recipients and key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general administrative support to Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards Program Manager throughout all annual phases of program.
  • Collaborate on tracking and execution of year-round project management.
  • Oversee social media planning and execution, including Facebook, Twitter, and refreshing content of the Awards website.
  • Manage intake and processing of all nominations, applications, and reference letters, based in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate on event coordination for Awards gala weekend, including recipient/family travel planning and vendors for the awards gala such as venue, caterer, photographer and videographer.
  • Research, develop and maintain lists of contacts for award event guest list and marketing targets.
  • Support ongoing communications with stakeholders, committee members, potential recommenders and applicants, luncheon invitees, etc.
  • Perform due diligence investigation/vetting of a subset of award applicants, to help clarify veracity and details of their projects.
  • Collaborate on engagement of the community of 70+ Award recipient alumni
  • Work with members of the Diller Teen Initiatives staff and with JCF accounting department staff to ensure accurate and timely budget tracking, reconciliation, payment requests, reimbursements, etc.
  • Supervise summer interns and/or temporary assistants (on an as needed basis).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong computer skills including all applications in MS Office Suite; Salesforce experience preferred; WordPress, HTML and Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Project and event planning skills, as well as ability to problem-solve
  • Excellent organizational skills including ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and operate with flexibility
  • Ability to take direction and feedback, as well as collaborate and work independently friendly, supportive environment
  • Enthusiasm for program and desire to work hard to further its impact and success
  • Sophisticated web-based research skills
  • Professional demeanor, interpersonal skills, and high degree of integrity
  • Working knowledge of Judaism and the organized Jewish community preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
