Community Partnerships and Communications Manager

Reports to Family Engagement Officer


The Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation) supports a vision of diverse and dynamic Bay Area Jewish communities, deeply engaged in Jewish life and doing good locally, in Israel and around the word. A newly defined strategic direction positions the Federation to achieve this vision by mobilizing innovation, collaboration, and community investment with focus on three intersecting areas:

  • Recruiting and stewarding the next generation of Jewish philanthropists to generate more and better philanthropy, driven by Jewish values;
  • Collaborating with partners to build connection and belonging in order to dramatically increase the number of young people engaged in Jewish life; and
  • Leading or funding core components that foster the resilience and security of Jewish communities, both locally and globally.

The Federation seeks highly motivated individuals with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement.


Sprout/PJ Library provides personalized support to families with young children to find meaningful Jewish community connections in the East Bay, and provides resources for families to bring Jewish learning into their homes through free monthly Jewish themed, age appropriate books.


The Community Partnerships and Communications Manager plays an important role in supporting the Sprout/PJ Library mission of supporting meaningful Jewish community connections for families with young children. This position is .75 FTE, based in the East Bay, and requires the ability to travel throughout the region, attending occasional evening and weekend programming.


  • Manage ongoing community with PJ Library families, responding to subscription inquiries and community program opportunities
  • Management of Sprout social media platforms as tools for relational engagement, education and outreach
  • Oversees PJ library grant reporting and participant data collection
  • Assist with coordination of PJ Library programs hosted by partnering organizations/congregations
  • Serve as a Sprout/PJ library ambassador at community programs and fairs
  • Support PJ community connectors
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in a related field such as social work, Jewish education, Jewish communal service, early childhood education preferred


  • Background in Jewish education, early childhood education, and/or family engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet objectives and performance standards
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and disciplines
  • Experience working with lay leaders and in creating and maintaining healthy lay/professional relationships
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and needs
  • Having a growth and learning mindset
  • Preferred knowledge of and appreciation for the Jewish community, its customs and practices
