Altman as he discusses his new bestseller\, Israel on Trial: Examining the History\, the Evidence\, and the Law.  \nIn his book\, Judge Altman brings both judicial rigor and deep personal conviction to confront the claims that Israel is guilty of colonialism\, apartheid\, and genocide.* This is a rare chance to hear him unpack the ideas behind his book in a private setting\, with plenty of room for real dialogue.  \nThe afternoon begins with light bites and beverages\, followed by a fireside chat with Judge Altman. Guests are invited to stay afterward to connect and continue the conversation.  \nWe look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a thoughtful\, memorable afternoon.   \nAddress will be shared upon registration.  \nThis event is invite-only.\n \n\n\n\n\nAbout Judge Roy K. Altman  \nAfter being confirmed to a seat on the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 2019\, Judge Roy K. Altman\, at 36\, became the youngest federal district court judge in the country — and the youngest federal judge ever appointed in the Southern District of Florida. He received his BA from Columbia University and his JD from Yale Law School\, where he was projects editor of the Yale Law Journal. After law school\, Altman clerked on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals for the Honorable Stanley Marcus.  \nAltman was then appointed as a federal prosecutor at the US Attorney’s Office in Miami\, where he twice received the Director of the Executive Office of US Attorneys’ Award for Superior Performance by a federal prosecutor. In 2013\, Altman was named “Federal Prosecutor of the Year” by the Miami-Dade Chiefs of Police and the Law Enforcement Officers’ Charitable Foundation.  \nIn 2014\, Altman was named a partner at the Miami law firm Podhurst Orseck\, where he represented the victims of airplane crashes and bank fraud conspiracies.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Israel on Trial: Examining the History\, the Evidence\, and the Law \nIn Israel on Trial: Examining the History\, the Evidence\, and the Law\, United States District Judge Roy K. Mark the start of your Jewish New Year with a free event by Reboot and the JCCSF. \nMark the start of your new year with Reboot and the JCCSF. Reset your system with our modern spin on a 600-year-old Rosh Hashanah ritual called tashlich. \nThis custom of ridding ourselves of all our bad vuggum (karma) from the previous year and getting a fresh start for the new one is traditionally enacted by tossing crumbs into the ocean. \nBecause the first day of Tashlich falls on Shabbat\, our event will be held Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\, from 5-7 pm in San Francisco. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate trip to New York City\, traveling alongside Federation Board Chair Laura Lauder with a small group of fellow lay leaders and major donors. Over three days\, you’ll explore curator-guided tours of celebrated institutions — The Metropolitan Museum of Art\, the Whitney Museum of American Art\, and the Neue Galerie — and visit the private home of Leonard Lauder z”l to view his personal art collection firsthand. Evenings will include dinners together and a night at Billy Crystal’s highly anticipated new Broadway show\, 860. \nThe cost is $1\,800 per person and includes all meals\, a ticket to 860\, and local transportation. Hotel and airfare are not included. This trip is open to only 20 participants who have made a minimum $25\,000 gift to the Federation’s 2027 Annual Campaign or have a donor-advised fund of $250\,000+.
