Grants Associate - Part Time Position at 20 hours/week

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Federation is searching for a flexible, creative, results-oriented professional to fill the position of Grants Associate. Reporting to the Grant Writer, this position is a key member of the Federation’s Development department, as the primary support person for all institutional giving activities. The Grants Associate supports the day-to-day activities of all aspects of the institutional giving program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Work with the Grant Writer to maintain all institutional records; track all institutional fundraising and prospecting activity; and maintain accurate and complete databases, records of contacts and communications.
  • Draft gift acknowledgment letters and correspondence with funders and prospects.
  • Work closely with the Grant Writer to create initial grant proposals, letters of interest, grant proposals and craft reports.
  • Meet regularly with other Development staff and members of the Impact department to gather required information for grant proposals and reports.
  • Conduct research on current and prospective funders and grant programs.
  • Support the cultivation, stewardship, and benefits fulfillment for foundation funders.
  • Interact with volunteer leaders.
  • Maintaining the grants pipeline and reporting calendar.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT TO

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with grant writing, with proven success in grant awards
  • Formal training in grant writing preferred

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE)

  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including juggling multiple deadlines and working well in a team environment
  • Previous experience with nonprofit fundraising
  • Excellent writing, editing, and research skills
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge a plus
  • Ability to listen and translate information into grant proposals
  • Experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for researching and writing grant proposals for foundation funds, including Requests for Proposal (RFP)
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office; web/internet savvy
  • A writing sample is required upon resume submission
