FEDERATION OVERVIEW

At the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation), we envision diverse, dynamic Bay Area Jewish communities, deeply engaged in Jewish life and doing good locally, in Israel, and around the world. We create opportunities for people in the Bay Area to connect with and contribute to their communities. Our work is guided by the timeless Jewish values of kehilla (community), tzedakah (giving with just intention), tzedek (pursuing justice), and tikkun olam (repairing the world).

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

JTF is a teen leadership program training the next generation of Jewish philanthropists and changemakers. Each year, a select group of teens are chosen to serve on the Board, in which they will explore their values, craft a mission statement based on a population they are passionate about, learn about the issues facing this population and services provided, fundraise real dollars in order to award real grants to nonprofit organizations that they have researched and vetted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Staff Sunday Meetings and JTF weekend Retreat to assist with program logistics and supervision of teens.
  • Participate in regular meetings with Program Manager.
  • Assist in meeting prep (logistics, supplies, speakers, materials, etc.)
  • Assist in check deposit intake, Salesforce data input, and reports.
  • Assist in sending donor acknowledgments.
  • Assist in synthesizing teen nonprofit research/interviews.
  • Assist in the coordination of professionals to be interviewed by JTF Board members.
  • Assist in the review process of up to 50 teens fundraising pages and letters.
  • Assist with recruitment logistics.
  • Assist with other special projects as needed delegated by Program Manager.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSES)

  • Experience working with teens.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and meet objectives and performance standards.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances, needs, hours.
  • Proactive problem solver and self-starter.
  • Extremely organized and able to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player, professionally with colleagues and in working with teens
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective communicator.
  • Proficient with technology.
  • All Federation employees working with teens will be required to pass a background check and will be fingerprinted.
  • Knowledge of nonprofits/philanthropy – preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license – preferred.

COMPENSATION

Salary range: $32.00 - $36.00/per hour
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, vacation, sick pay, holidays (including Jewish), and retirement plan.
