Jewish Coalition for Literacy
Volunteer tutors share the magic of reading and give children, who might otherwise be left behind, a chance at a better future—all in as little as an hour a week. Tutors are provided structured training and then placed one-on-one or with small groups of children in grades K–3 for read-aloud sessions. No previous tutoring experience is necessary and new volunteers are always needed!
Nesiya
A unique five-week summer Israel program for 10th-12th graders, including 20-30% Israeli peer-participants. Multi-day Community Service Projects, Art Workshops (visual, writing, music, dance, no experience needed), and amazing staff who enable each participant to explore the land, people, and history with relevance to your own life. JTF Director, Lom Friedman, is Nesiya 1989 alum!

Schoolhouse Distribution Center
Join us in South Sebastopol to work directly matching fire survivors with resources and to support people who come to the Center. Volunteers needed Monday-Saturday, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Sonoma Ecology Center: Emergency Watershed Protection
After the North Bay wildfires, burned houses and structures left behind toxic waste that can wash into waterways during Winter rains. Keeping the ash and debris in place until it can be properly removed is very important to watershed health, wildlife, and public safety. Volunteers needed to fill sandbags, load vehicles, and place wattles under the supervision of a trained team leader.
Tivnu: Building Justice Gap Year
Spend a year in Portland with other social justice-minded, high school graduates (17-20 years old). Everyone is placed in an internship at a grassroots organization by day and shares a warm, communal home by night. Whether you spend your year teaching English, advocating for refugees’ rights, growing food with kids, building tiny houses, or cooking meals for houseless Portlanders, you’ll go home each day knowing you did work that made a difference. Early bird applications received by January 1 receive a $4,000 tuition discount!
