Manager, Endowment Funds

This position reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement

The Manager, Endowed Funds reports to the Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement. The role manages the Federation’s restricted endowment fund program, working with a range of agencies, synagogues, and individual donors.  The Manager, Endowed Funds will also be part of the JCF’s Centennial Campaign team, working to develop and steward legacy gifts.  The individual will also manage selected programs that are supported by restricted funds, including scholarship and award programs.  The position is a member of the Federation’s Philanthropic Resource Development team and will work closely on a number of projects with the Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement, collaborating with the Community Impact and philanthropic education efforts of the JCF as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Promote, create, and implement Client Services functions across restricted endowment funds.
  • Direct client-facing work with external Investment Committee and staff of organizations who house their endowments – or are exploring placing their endowments – in a restricted fund at the Federation. 
  • Direct client-facing work with individuals and professional advisors on legacy gift development and stewardship.
  • Serve as liaison providing finance, accounting, and investment information and updates to current and prospective clients and donors.
  • Selected program officer work to prepare materials, analyze grants, and provide evaluation and reporting to clients and committees. 
  • Conduct research and writing on non-profits and issue-areas of interest to fund holders.
  • Participate in donor education and engagement and other development-related programs.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT TO:

  • Master’s degree in business, non-profit administration, social policy, Jewish communal service, public administration or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ minimum work in philanthropic, public, or non-profit sector.
  • Knowledge of or experience in Jewish communal services and programming

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE):

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collegially with internal staff and in client-serving capacity.
  • Strong facility with financial, analytical and research skills
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage others in the mission of the JCF.
  • Willing to travel within the Bay Area to meet with clients.
