Managing Director, Integrated Philanthropy

COMPENSATION RANGE: $172,560 - $215,700

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Federation is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement. 

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This role has managerial responsibilities for a minimum of 7 direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Develop sustained relationships and engage with a select group of high-capacity donors, foundations, and DAF holders to guide/advise their philanthropy as well as build their awareness of and engagement in Federation programs and priorities, including soliciting major gifts. 

• Work closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) to design and execute a vision of integrated philanthropy with a donor/client centric lens where advisory services, fundraising/campaigns, planned giving, and engagement/stewardship are holistically blended. 
• Refine and develop goals, KPIs, strategies, systems and policies that ensure successful donor cultivation, advisory/support, engagement, education, and stewardship – including mentoring and motivating the Integrated Philanthropy team to meet, measure, and evaluate goals and performance. 
• Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of the philanthropy advisory, donor stewardship, gift planning, and campaign/fundraising teams, including the design and execution of:
  • Outreach plans to introduce the Jewish Impact Portfolio and any associated campaigns (including those related to the Endowment) to donors and prospects, with a focus on engaging next generation philanthropists.
  • Robust stewardship and cultivation plan for Donor-Advised Fund holders and donors, including special events.
  • Creation of collateral materials that effectively articulate our advisory services as well as our mission, impact, and funding needs to inspire, inform, and steward various donor audiences.
• Support productive and collaborative partnerships inside Federation in the design and delivery of compelling philanthropy experiences for donors, funders, and other shared constituents. 
• Fully brief relevant professional staff (including the CPO and CEO), board members and lay committees for all interactions with donors, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Keep current on latest trends and issues in philanthropy and related technologies. 

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)

• Knowledge of and appreciation for the Jewish community, its customs, and practices, preferred.
• Enjoys coaching and managing others to high levels of performance and professional fulfillment 
• Approaches work with an open-mind and growth mind-set 
• Flexible, nimble, and entrepreneurial in an evolving philanthropic landscape
• Demonstrated success in soliciting and closing major gifts 
• The ability to present a strong and recognizable commitment to the enrichment of the Jewish community is required
• Sound judgment and discretion in handling and securing confidential donor and financial information 
• Understands organizational structure and works through administrative systems; asks questions and takes initiative to facilitate work being completed
• Expertise in effective use of marketing tools and strategies related to charitable and planned gifts
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collegially with internal professionals and external leaders of other organizations
• Must be willing to travel the extent of the Federation’s service area (Sonoma County to Palo Alto) to visit agencies, attend volunteer committee meetings, and attend key community events; national conferences and meetings and Israel, as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to organize, set priorities and delegate responsibilities to motivate lay leadership and professionals and to lead the successful implementation and completion of multiple and varied projects and programs

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in a related field highly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least seven to ten years of managing large teams as well as leadership experience in relationship management (philanthropy, fundraising, advancement) with increasing levels of responsibility
