Beer Mitzvah: a Jewish-themed Beer Fest

Celebrate the 'coming of age' of craft beer at the beer fest called a 'Beer Mitzvah.' Thirteen local breweries on-hand, music, food, activities.

Did you know most beer is kosher by default based on the ingredients? Yes, it's true. The one catch is that not all breweries can have a rabbi regularly supervise the production for an official designation, but the majority of beers can be considered "kosher-style." Let's celebrate craft beer coming of age at a "Beer Mitzvah" on Sunday, April 28, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm, at Temple Israel in Alameda, CA.

Breweries scheduled to participate are:

Altamont
Alameda Island Brewing
Ale Industries
Crooked City Cider
Federation
Independent
Oakland United
OldKan
Original Pattern
Shadow Puppet
South City Cider
2 Towns Cider

Pending: Almanac, Faction & Admiral Malting/The Rake.

Your eyes are not deceiving you; this is an incredible line-up. Admission price is $36 and enables attendees to unlimited pours to taste incredible beer that is kosher-style or kashrut, as well as two very popular, locally crafted hard ciders. Attendees also get to vote for their favorite beer at the event in a contest to determine "The Chosen One." Don't miss out!

Jewish music, food, activities and a bake sale will be on hand.
