The Jews of Italy are known for their magnificent illuminated ketubot (marriage contracts), which incorporate Italian architectural details, images of Jerusalem, allegorical representations, and biblical figures, as well as more fantastical elements such as cherubs and signs of the zodiac. Peretz Wolf-Prusan will present examples from the 18th and 19th centuries of these lavishly decorated artworks.

Rabbi Peretz Wolf-Prusan is a senior educator and former chief program officer at HaMaqom (formerly Lehrhaus Judaica). Before being a synagogue rabbi and educator, and before rabbinic school, he was, from 1974 to 1984, a scribe and illuminator of ketubot.
