How California Fulfills its Promise as a Sanctuary State for Abortion Services

Please join us for a conversation with Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan and ACCESS Policy Advocacy Coordinator Xochitl Lopez-Ayala on how California is leading the country in reproductive justice.

Our guests will discuss the impact of California being a sanctuary state for abortion services, what can be done legislatively to protect people seeking abortions, and what we can do as individuals to ensure rights and access exist in California. Our community has long supported the legal right to reproductive choice and access to reproductive healthcare, including abortion. Now it's time for us to learn, engage, and take action to assure no one is denied their rights.

This conversation will be moderated by JCRC Director of Policy and Partnerships Jessica Trubowitch.

Rebecca Bauer-Kahan has served as a member of the California State Assembly from the 16th district since 2018. Her district encompasses Lamorinda and the Tri-Valley region of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Xochitl Lopez-Ayala is the policy advocacy coordinator for ACCESS and an advocate for affordable, safe, accessible, and inclusive reproductive health services for all.
