YAD Day of Volunteering 2019

Join YAD in making an impact at our annual Day of Volunteering!

Each year, dozens of young adults gather to volunteer at various sites throughout San Francisco, making a positive difference in our community.

Schedule

9:00–10:00 am: Participants arrive at the Federation for breakfast and registration.

10:00 am: Community Welcome

11:00 am: In transportation organized by the Federation, participants depart for their service sites.

11:30 am: Time to make a difference!

2:30 pm: Optional post-volunteering meetup at Biergarten.

Site and Volunteer Descriptions

Peninsula Jewish Community Center
The PJCC is a center for Jewish life on the Peninsula. Their garden project provides organic produce to approximately 300 homeless shelter residents annually.
Volunteer assignment: Volunteers will be working in the garden. 

Raphael House
Raphael House helps low-income families and families experiencing homelessness strengthen family bonds by achieving stable housing and financial independence.
Volunteer assignment: Volunteers will assist with pre-party set up for their annual gala that night. Note that this volunteer assignment will go until 4:30 pm. 

Rhoda Goldman Plaza
San Francisco's unsurpassed assisted living and memory care community. Residents are treated by dedicated staff with compassion and understanding in an environment where their identity and individuality is respected.
Volunteer assignment: Volunteers will enjoy brunch with the senior residents and will serve residents special treats or drinks. Following brunch, volunteers will play games in the library with the residents. 

Individual site assignments will be emailed to volunteers the week of the event.
