While visiting her Federation donor-advised fund (DAF) portal, Helen Bulwik discovered our four new Collective Impact Portfolios that combat antisemitism and strengthen democracy. Her reaction was immediate. “It was a no brainer for me to check every single box and make a contribution to each one. I was so struck by it, and I feel the need for this so deeply that I just created grants for each one of them. I was compelled.”
As a center for Jewish philanthropy, one of the Federation’s goals is to provide innovative ways for our DAF holders and supporting foundation directors to approach their philanthropy and address our community’s most urgent concerns. Our new Collective Impact Portfolios do just that — by providing a vehicle to fight the alarming rise in antisemitism and the related threats to democracy.
Leveraging the power of collective giving, donations of any size can make a meaningful impact.
By pooling capital from Federation DAFs, the four new portfolios each support a Federation-vetted suite of organizations taking antisemitism head-on — and bolstering democracy in the process. Each Collective Impact Portfolio approaches combating antisemitism in a unique way, so donors can allocate their gifts to whichever portfolios resonate most for them.
Susan Mall and her husband Jay chose to donate to the Collective Impact Portfolios to create a better future for their children and grandchildren. Susan explained, “Antisemitism is such an enormous problem, and we really don’t know what the best strategy is to combat it. So, I liked the idea that there were several organizations working on this — hopefully with different strategies. They’re not all doing the same thing. You know, you have to throw enough paint against the wall for some of it to stick.”
The Federation’s Collective Impact Portfolios include:

Preventing Antisemitic Violence
