Barbara Shragge Appointed as Senior Philanthropic Advisor

San Francisco, CA – We are excited to announce a strong addition to our philanthropy team at the Federation. We are now joined by Barbara Shragge, a deeply experienced advisor and respected local leader in San Francisco, in the role of Senior Philanthropic Advisor. Barbara will be charged with building advisory relationships with clients and prospective clients, and with developing relationships with wealth managers and other professional advisors in both San Francisco and Marin. Barbara's arrival is an important addition to our practice's investment in philanthropic engagement for donor advised fund holders and supporting foundations.

Barbara’s deep expertise in the advisory field includes working most recently as a Senior Director for Portfolio Management with BNY Mellon Private Wealth Management, in San Francisco for the past decade. She is an expert in working at a senior level with large portfolios to help clients with their investments, wealth management, and tax planning. Barbara has extensive experience and success in working with multi-generational family relationships and their complex dynamics, helping them to achieve their philanthropic goals, and winning new business in collaboration with her business development team there.

After a 5-year stint working on Wall Street in NYC, Barbara returned to San Francisco to work for Rosenberg Capital Management, and then as a Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager with Jurika & Voyles, in Oakland, and McMorgan & Co., in San Francisco. “After spending nearly 40 exhilarating years in the capital markets, I am inspired to bring this experience to help donors create change through philanthropy. My connection to the San Francisco Jewish community is multi-faceted and I’ve balanced my career with strong commitments to both Jewish and secular nonprofits, so working for Federation Philanthropy Partners is a wonderful encore career.”

As a volunteer leader, Barbara has served as a Trustee of the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, and as a board member of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. A third generation San Franciscan, Barbara grew up at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco. Her experience and deep roots in the Jewish community will boost the visibility of Federation Philanthropy Partners, our philanthropy advisory practice.

Barbara has a B.A. in Classical Languages from U.C. Berkeley. She lives in San Francisco, travels extensively, and enjoys time with her two sons, Jimmy, a music producer in Los Angeles, and David, a law school student in San Francisco. Barbara loves hiking, downhill skiing, tennis, theatre, and supporting her friends in their philanthropic pursuits.

Barbara will be based in our San Francisco office and can be reached by phone at 415.512.6231, and her email is: BarbaraS@sfjcf.org

Warmly,

Sue Reinhold, Ph.D.                                  Joy Sisisky
