Senior Engagement Officer, Israel and Global Network

This position reports to the Interim Senior Director of Community Impact

ORGANIZATIONAL VISION, MISSION, AND FUNCTION:

The Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is a non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to catalyzing and sustaining a vibrant Jewish community. Federation supports those in need, deepens engagement in Jewish life, and strengthens the bonds among Jews in the Bay Area, in Israel, and around the world. Our primary functions are financial resource development and grant-making. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

To engage Federation donors, local leaders, and community members more deeply with global Jewish communities, including Israel. This position will help bring the work we support in Israel and overseas to the Bay Area through engagement with donors and local organizations to increase awareness of the issues, the work we support and to foster meaningful connections between people. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Develop and curate substantive donor engagement opportunities, including creating and supporting travel programs, and serving as a travel “resource”, in collaboration with the Director, Israel & Global Network
  • Partner with local organizations to support and help develop local Israel engagement as we evolve from funder to partner, including Yom Haatzamaut grant opportunities
  • Work closely with the Development team to set criteria and goals for Israel and overseas donor engagement opportunities
  • In partnership with Federation’s Director, Israel & Global Network (based in Israel), serve as lead staff for Israel and Global related lay committees
  • Support special events, programs, and speakers related to our international work, including hosting and coordinating visitors from Israel and abroad
  • Support Associate Program Officer in launch and implementation of redesigned Gift of Israel program
  • Serve as a community resource to local organizations as they relate to the issues we support in Israel and overseas
  • Serve as primary “hub” for Federation-led Missions to Israel, collaborating with the Philanthropy Department and Leadership Development, and with our Israel office team to offer high-value experiences geared toward key objectives
  • Partner with CPO to coordinate donor fundraising and stewardship work

EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT TO:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred. 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE):

  • Knowledge of social issues in Israel; changing policy trends; and passion for Israel/Diaspora relations
  • Knowledge of Global Jewish communities
  • Highly adept at creating and maintaining effective relationships with volunteers, donors, agency professionals and other community stakeholders
  • Outstanding writing and oral communications skills
  • Highly organized and self-motivated; able to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and work well under pressure
  • Team player and a sense of humor are essential
  • Computer literacy (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
