WEXNER HERITAGE PROGRAM BACKGROUND

There are over 250 Bay Area Wexner Heritage Alumni. The mission of the Wexner Heritage Program is to expand the vision of Jewish volunteer leaders, deepen their Jewish knowledge and confidence, and inspire them to exercise transformative leadership in the Jewish community. Established in 1985 by Leslie Wexner (founder and CEO of Limited Brands) and Rabbi Herb Friedman z"l, the Bay Area is proud to have been one of the earliest Wexner communities and will enroll its next cohort in 2017. To date, nationally, nearly 1,800 leaders from 33 North American cities have participated in the program.

The Wexner Heritage Program is a two-year Jewish study experience with an additional focus on leadership. Each local seminar group consists of 20 volunteer leaders. The program is defined by four-hour evening seminars every two weeks, and a summer institute for three continuous years, one of which takes place in Israel. The curriculum reflects multiple components: Jewish Fundamentals, The History of the Jewish People, The Thought of the Jewish People, Leadership Learning, and Contemporary Issues.
