Administrative Coordinator, Philanthropic Education

This position reports to the Director of Youth Philanthropy

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Jewish Community Federation (JCF) of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is the network for Jewish progress, dedicated to building a connected and enriched Jewish community locally, supporting a pluralistic and democratic Israel, and sustaining Jews in need around the world.

Together with its endowment operations, JCF acts as a central Jewish financial resource development and planning institution for the Jewish community of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties. We serve donors and local and international NGO’s by providing planning, capacity building, and financial resources from funds raised through our Jewish Community Endowment Fund, endowed vehicles, donor-advised philanthropy, and campaigns. Additionally we serve the needs of the Jewish people in Israel and overseas with financial support of innovative programming.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Jewish Teen Foundations is a program of the Jewish Community Federation, consisting of three satellite projects in the Bay Area.  Each area has a teen board that runs its own foundation; including fundraising and grant making.  For teens, the program begins with a Regional Training Retreat in November, includes 7 board meetings, and ends in May/June. Key elements are youth leadership and empowerment, strategic philanthropy guided by Jewish values, and understanding Jewish community needs and Jewish tikkun agencies.  Last year, the JTF teens raised over $200,000 and awarded 28 grants to excellent non-profits.  Based on the success of this 13 year-old program, the JCF has expanded its philanthropy education outreach to include adult and family events as well.
