Role:
Review and update by-laws. Advise staff on appropriate legal requirements to communicate the changes with the State, IRS, etc. as needed.
Estimated Time:
Ten to 20 hours
Start Date:
We have already done some preparation and would like the consultant to begin the work as soon as possible.
Collaboration style:
Volunteer in person & remotely. Work closely with professional staff & lay leadership.
Zero Breast Cancer
Scope & Deliverables
Review current by-laws and, based on best practices in the field, revise the by-laws so they comply with 501c3 requirements without being overly bureaucratic or cumbersome.
Project Results
This project will help to ground our future growth in solid governance practices.
Organization Description
Zero Breast Cancer, located in San Rafael, is a 21-year-old non-profit focused on breast cancer prevention and the environmental causes of breast cancer. We connect researchers, scientists and the community to each other. Through education and outreach we promote understanding of breast cancer risks and risk reduction interventions.
Required Skills/Experience
Familiarity with the laws pertaining to 501c3 organizations and best practices in creating organizational by-laws.
