Business Model Analysis and Advice

Overview
Scope & Deliverables
The Jewish New Teacher Project, based in New York City, was heavily funded by a single foundation for its first 10 years and is now facing the challenge of that foundation spending down. We completed a business plan with Wellspring Consulting three years ago and have been following the recommendations and benchmarks of the plan pretty closely. We are finding, however, that raising sufficient funds to cover an 80% subsidy for our participating schools to be overly burdensome. We are reconsidering our financial model and are looking for a consultant to help us with this exploration and analysis.
We are looking for someone to help us explore our options for pricing, sliding scale fees, and other possible sources of earned revenue. The work will likely involve:
- Analysis of our budget and financial model
- Speaking with selected clients to understand how they value our work as well as their purchasing power
- Share the research with senior JNTP leadership
- Make recommendations / help us think about changing our pricing structure.
- Exploring other streams of earned income that we could develop.
Project Results
This engagement will help us better understand if we can charge a higher fee-for-service to our schools. It will also help us better understand how our clients value our work and what they are willing to pay. Having this knowledge will enable us to make budget decisions and plans regarding fundraising and earned revenue as we strive toward sustainability.
