Institute for Curriculum Services (ICS)

Scope & Deliverables

The Institute for Curriculum Services (ICS) is currently evaluating approaches to streamline our file management, particularly as our team has grown with three new members joining within the last year.  At present, all documents are saved on a server in various folders.  Challenges include managing the various types of files we deal with, multiple users of some documents, organization and ease of finding information, and remote access (the VPN is slow and cumbersome). Because of the overlap of some data in our files (particularly in our curricular and review areas), our goal is to find appropriate technology or technologies to integrate data where appropriate, to ease access (within and outside the office), and to ensure version control.

ICS is requesting a software/data management consultant to analyze our needs and make recommendations based on those needs.  The consultant would help create a list of the top appropriate and affordable vendors and products that can meet our requirements.

Project Results

ICS is in the process of revamping its website and expanding its curricular offerings both online and through nationwide in-person professional development workshops. It is continuing its print reviews of K-12 textbooks and is expanding its reviews of online content curricular current.

To effectively manage current and future relationships with educators and publishers, and to provide the highest level of service, we wish to deploy the latest technology to effectively and efficiently maximize our reach and impact.

Organization Description

The Institute for Curriculum Services, headquartered in San Francisco, provides educational materials regarding Jews, Judaism, and Israel for over 9.1 million middle and high school students nationwide annually. We accomplish this by developing our own curricular materials, distributing them to educators, and by working with publishers on social studies textbooks.
