Hillel of Silicon Valley

Scope & Deliverables

Hillel of Silicon Valley is a small organization with a very limited number of transactions, donations and vendor base. The current annual budget is approximately $500K. We are looking for a review of our financial statements, transactions and processes, preferably for the past two years, though one would be acceptable.

Accounting staff is essentially one person plus a part-time bookkeeper with review and supervision by the executive director and treasurer on a monthly basis. We use Quickbooks for accounting software and Little Green Light for donation tracking. Financial statements are prepared by the treasurer, a CPA at Burr Pilger Mayer.

We have never had a financial audit. A control review and a limited forensic audit was performed three years ago.

Organization Description

Hillel of Silicon Valley, located in San Jose, provides a welcoming supportive environment to enrich students' college experience and enable them to connect with the Jewish community and Israel.

Project Results

We have not been able to do an audit because of the cost. A professional review of the financials would provide assurance to our donors that proper safeguards and controls are in place and that funds are being managed appropriately to achieve our organization’s goals and objectives.

We believe that certain large donors may require audited financial statements to be eligible for their grants, but up to now we have not been asked for audited financials. Being able to produce statements that have undergone a financial review should be adequate for our needs.

Required Skills/Experience

Audit experience, preferably a CPA.
