Camp Tawonga

Scope & Deliverables

Tawonga is seeking to ensure that  our marketing resources are deployed effectively and that we are utilizing the right channels and the right messaging to reach the broadest audience.

We seek an expert advisor to mentor our new, young, talented marketing director on general marketing best practices and strategies related to messaging, marketing tactics and marketing evaluation.

Specifically, the mentor would provide advice and coaching on the following:

  1. Review/evaluate marketing goals and desired audiences
  2. Determine online channels and/or print vehicles that will most effectively reach audiences
  3. Determine tactics for how to use the identified vehicles/channels
  4. Identify messaging guidelines for the vehicles/channels
  5. Define metrics to evaluate marketing effectiveness

In addition to the above, the mentor could provide periodic guidance for the marketing director when she has questions or faces hard decisions related to marketing.

Project Results

1. Optimizing Tawonga's marketing strategies will make a difference by helping us reach a broader audience to participate in our programs, particularly in our brand-new, local programs.

2. Post-engagement, Tawonga will be better positioned to make an impact in the community due to having more effectively marketed to our target audiences. We will thus be able to reach and serve more community members with our programs, which results in increased self-esteem in children, a deeper connection to Jewish identity and community and a partnership with nature.

Organization Description

Camp Tawonga's office is in San Francisco and our camp site is in Groveland, California, seven miles west of Yosemite National Park. Our mission is to raise self esteem, create cooperative community, inspire people to participate in social justice and to provide tools to build positive Jewish connections and identity.
