The Center for Jewish Philanthropy Expands Identity to Reflect Regional Leadership

The Jewish Federation Endowment and Community Fund announced its rebranding to Jewish Federation Bay Area, strengthening its identity as the center for Jewish philanthropy in Northern California. The new name reflects the organization’s role as the largest funder of Jewish causes in California and its commitment to building a thriving, resilient Jewish future throughout the Bay Area.

The rebrand signals the Federation’s evolution as a strategic partner and trusted advisor for those seeking to make an impact today while shaping a better tomorrow. The new identity connects donors, visionaries and community partners across the region, from Sonoma County to San Mateo County, from Contra Costa County to San Francisco.

“For over a century, we have been the backbone of Jewish philanthropy in the Bay Area, ensuring that our community remains vibrant, resilient and innovative,” said Joy Sisisky, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jewish Federation Bay Area. “As the center for Jewish philanthropy in Northern California, our new identity reflects that leadership. This rebrand strengthens our ability to connect with impact-seekers who want to turn their values into action.”

The Federation serves as a hub for Jewish giving and connection, supporting Jewish identity at every stage of life through strategic philanthropy, collective action and trusted leadership. From early childhood education, crisis response and community building, the organization empowers individuals and families to give strategically while building lasting legacies.

“Now more than ever, the Federation is leading the way in building strong, vibrant Jewish life in San Francisco,” said Laura Lauder, Board Chair of Jewish Federation Bay Area. “This rebrand reinforces our vision to catalyze and convene Jews in this heightened moment of need for strengthening community here in the Bay Area, Israel and around the world.”

The rebrand emphasizes key organizational strengths:

  • Strategic Leadership: As the largest funder of Jewish causes in California, the Federation provides expert guidance through donor-advised funds, impact investing and strategic philanthropic services that maximize giving impact.
  • Regional Connection: The new identity reflects the Federation’s comprehensive reach across the Bay Area, connecting diverse Jewish populations through shared values of kehilla (building community), tzedek (pursuing justice), tzedakah (caring for people in need), and tikkun olam (repairing the world).
  • Crisis Response: When the world shifts, we act. The Federation mobilizes resources for immediate relief and long-term support, ensuring no Jewish community stands alone in times of need.
  • Future-Focused Mission: The organization invests in Jewish life for generations to come, from Birthright experiences to PJ Library programs, ensuring Jewish identity flourishes across the region.

The rebrand comes at a time of significant growth for Bay Area Jewish communities, with new families moving to the region and existing communities expanding their programming and outreach. Jewish Federation Bay Area meets these evolving needs while maintaining its core commitment to Jewish values and community building.
