Find Your People
Giving circles bring people of all ages and backgrounds together to make a difference. Members connect, learn, and give collectively to support causes they care about. Giving circles offer a safe, supportive Jewish community, providing a way to give generously at any level while connecting with others who share your values and interests.
Federation Giving Circles
Founded in 2018, Jewish Pride Fund (JPF) is committed to supporting the intersecting needs, values, and interests of the LGBTQAI+ and Jewish communities in the Bay Area, nationally, and in Israel. This giving circle is open to all members and allies of the LGBTQAI+ community.
Note: Donors can also contribute to the JPF grant pool without participating in the giving circle activities.
In the wake of October 7, The Bay Area Tribe – a local group of Jewish young adults – approached the Federation for guidance in coming together with the community while engaging in philanthropy. In their first meetings, the inaugural “Young Jewish Fund” came to consensus quickly: despite the wide range of issues that they each were personally passionate about (climate, women’s health, etc.), in this specific container, they wanted to address Jewish issues. If you are interested in joining the second cohort of the Young Jewish Fund to address these issues, please email collaborative@sjfc.org.
Each year, a select group of Jewish high school students joins Jewish Teen Foundation (JTF) to become empowered, confident, and effective leaders who learn how philanthropy can effect change. These teens cultivate skills in philanthropy, fundraising, leadership, social justice issues, confidence, communication, and collaboration. The JTF teens focus on and raise money for issues they collectively choose together each year.
In April 2024, we offered the second iteration of The Global Jewish Citizens Fund as an online, collective giving event with a Passover theme. Participants were invited to learn, donate, and give to organizations supporting those effected by the crisis of global forced migration—one of the most profound modern challenges of our time. This was all done via an online platform. Donors funded four organizations committed to improving the lives of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, including Canal Alliance, HIAS California, Project Kesher, and Tebeka.
Pop-ups are one-time giving circles that can take place at the Federation, in a donor’s home, in a park, or pretty much anywhere that like-minded donors can learn, give, and celebrate together. Let’s collaborate and bring your ideas to life.
