FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 15, 2025

Below please find a statement from Joy Sisisky, President and CEO of the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund of the Bay Area, in response to the release of three hostages from Gaza today:

“The Federation is relieved to see that Sagui Dekel-Chen, an Israeli-American citizen, Alexander Troufanov, and Yair Horn have been freed from Gaza after being held hostage for 16 months. We share in the relief that their families and the Jewish community feel upon their return.

“We remain gravely concerned for the hostages still in Gaza, and call on the mediators of this agreement to urge humane treatment of the remaining captives, who have suffered unimaginably for 16 months.

“We will not forget the remaining 70 hostages who have languished in Gaza for 498 days and are awaiting their release. The Federation will continue its advocacy for these hostages until every last one of them is home.”
