JTF teens commit to full participation in program meetings and work which takes place from August through May. Participants are expected to dedicate 10-13 hours each month to the program including meetings and project work.
Schedule Overview
- Orientation/Meeting 1: 4.5-hours for teens to get oriented and engage in meeting 1 (the rest of the Sunday board meetings will be 4 hours)
- Parent Orientation: 1.25-hour for parents to understand the program and the journey their teens will embark on
- Full-weekend retreat (Friday, 12 pm – Sunday, 5 pm)
- Monthly Meetings:
- 4-hour monthly Board meetings (Sundays, 3-7 pm in San Francisco/Palo Alto and other locations as needed) – with the exception of Meeting 1 which be from 2:30 – 7 pm.
- Monthly half-hour check in with mentor group (“Pod”)
- 1 Service Day – full day
- 4-hour culminating event at the end of the year
- Project work: Collaborate on grant evaluations and fundraising efforts, ensuring your voice is heard in every aspect of the decision-making process.
- Individual/small group fundraisers (in person and/or online)
- 4-hour culminating event at the end of the year
- 6-8 hours of monthly individual and/or small group work (both in-person and online)
JTF makes every effort to avoid scheduling meetings on Jewish holidays, school finals, vacations, and other large community events that interest teens and Jewish families.
Program Cost
The cost of the program is $1,000. Need-based financial assistance is available.
