For Tax and Estate Professionals

Helping you deepen relationships with clients

The Federation has a long history of partnering with professional advisors when their clients’ needs involve charitable planning. As an innovator and agent of change in the philanthropic community, the Federation provides expertise in all areas of charitable gift planning. We work closely with donors and their advisors to develop philanthropic goals, recommend gift planning opportunities, and create philanthropic programs in a donor’s area of interest.

We are experts on charitable giving

We provide expertise in all areas of charitable planning, including estate planning, addressing tax-driven concerns, or engaging families in philanthropy. Our Endowment professionals work with professional advisors to develop tailored strategies to meet clients’ particular planning needs, whether they want to give now or in the future. We provide customized illustrations and explanations of lifetime, testamentary, and deferred life income gifts, including charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable gift annuities, and pooled income funds. Sample bequest language for unrestricted, restricted, and designated special-purpose funds is also available for advisors’ review.

We are experts on our community

For the past 100 years, we have served as the central fundraising and planning organization within our local Jewish community. We are intimately familiar with the needs of the community, as well as the resources available to help serve those needs. We can help your clients give effectively wherever they want to make a difference, whether it be through the Federation or other agencies serving the community.

We handle a variety of assets

We facilitate transactions involving the transfer of complex assets, including gifts of real estate, closely held and restricted stock, and tangible personal property.

We help identify when it’s appropriate to discuss charitable giving with your clients and provide a forum to do so

Federation professionals are available to facilitate family meeting discussions on intergenerational philanthropy and on-site gatherings of philanthropically motivated donors. The Federation also offers resources to professional advisors in the form of educational programs and professional committees, as well as philanthropic and estate planning publications.

We provide a forum for continuing education and networking

The Federation provides educational programs designed for professionals interested in investments, financial planning, and estate planning. From our annual Day of Philanthropy to our Professional Advisor Network, with chapters in San Francisco and on the Peninsula, meets periodically to discuss the latest developments and changes in the field of taxation and charitable planning, as well as to educate our professional colleagues on the importance of charitable giving and the various planned giving programs at the Federation. Most of these programs qualify for continuing education credits.
