Jewish Day School Scholarships

Increasing the number of Jewish students who are able to attend Jewish day schools.

With the typical cost of Jewish day school reaching up to $30,000 per year, we’re providing need-based scholarships to Jewish children attending qualified Jewish day schools in the Federation’s service area. Day school scholarships are intended to provide “last resort” community resources above and beyond what is contributed by families and individual day schools.

Scholarship guidelines

Day schools use these guidelines when administering the Federation’s scholarships:

  • Scholarships must be “last resort” funds, supplementing financial assistance provided by the day school, family and all other possible sources, for families who would otherwise not be able to attend.
  • Families may apply for day school scholarships for one or more children.
  • Children must be Jewish (as identified by their families).
  • Families must contribute a minimum percentage of total tuition according to their ability to pay.
  • Scholarship funds are to be used strictly for day school tuition, not for after-care or other school expenses.

How to apply

Families must apply for the Federation’s day school scholarships through their participating day school.

Scholarship award process

The Federation allocates block grants to each qualifying day school from which to award scholarships based on financial need. Applications are reviewed and awards determined by the school’s financial aid committee. Application contents and materials, and applicants’ identities, are kept strictly confidential. Applicants will be notified about award decisions directly by the school.
