Extraordinary efforts

Sarah Van Zanten and Eric Heimark probably wish they didn't have to help repair the world. But as long as domestic violence and poverty exist, they'll be on the front lines of the fight. Now Van Zanten, of Shalom Bayit, and Heimark, of Free the Children, are being recognized for their work with Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards -- which are inspiring them to go further with their tireless efforts to make change. The two Palo Alto teens also caught the eye of the j., the Jewish news weekly of Northern California, which ran a feature story on them in today's paper.  Click here to check it out.

Sarah Van Zanten will receive a $36,000 scholarship in recognition for her efforts to help those in abusive relationships.
