Help the victims of Japan's earthquake and tsunami

In response to the massive earthquake in Japan and the resulting tsunami in the Pacific region, our Federation, like all others, is mobilizing the community to help the victims and their families. Although the exact number of deaths or injuries is so far unclear, tens of thousands have been evacuated and authorities in Japan estimate hundreds of casualties. Japanese authorities have asked for American help. While early indications show that Japan's Jewish community of approximately 1,000 people has been largely unaffected, we will continue to closely monitor the situation as details emerge. Our Federation has opened an emergency relief fund where you may donate online now or by mail; we will be working with our partners on the ground, the Joint Distribution Committee and IsraAID, among others, to disburse the funds.

Jewish Community Federation 121 Steuart Street San Francisco, CA 94105 Please make check payable to Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, and write "Disaster Relief Fund for Japan" in the memo.

Watching the news footage of the earthquake and the damage it caused is heartbreaking. We mourn for all the victims and their loved ones, as well as everyone who has been hurt or displaced. We can only begin to imagine what they must be feeling. That's why when a crisis arises, our Federation is there on our community's behalf to make sure that people in urgent need are assisted immediately. Thank you for your compassion and support.
