Chanukah Maker Faire

Bringing together nature-based exploration with the Jewish Festival of Light for kids in grades K-5

Join Wilderness Torah for our first-ever Chanukah Maker Faire!

Kids and mentors spend the day outdoors, come rain or shine, in the Oakland redwoods crafting, cooking, storytelling and re-imagining gifting—an alternative to mainstream materialism during Chanukah.

Some highlights include:

  • Making olive oil lamps and dipping beeswax candles
  • Cooking applesauce over an open fire for our Chanukah latkes
  • Learning how to respectfully and sustainably harvest wild plants for homemade gifts
  • Active Maccabia games where kids explore the winter woods and deepen their connections with nature
  • Chanukah storytelling and mythology
