April 20, 2023
6:00 PM - 7:45 PM
Giving Circle Contribution

This event is open to members of the Global Jewish Citizens Fund giving circle. Join us!

Global Jewish Citizens Fund members will hear unique, insider stories from representatives of organizations who have been invited to apply for grants from the giving circle. We will connect with dynamic and inspirational leadership of organizations impacting the daily lives of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. This is an interactive Zoom meeting; please come with your questions and engage in conversation.

The following five organizations will each make 15 minute presentations:

Project Kesher

In 1989 Project Kesher was founded to support a growing network of Jewish women leaders in the former Soviet Union. Project Kesher Israel (PKI) has taken on a major role in settling Ukrainian immigrants, particularly exploited women and children, and providing for their immediate medical, mental health, legal, and educational needs.

Prospera Community Foundation

Prospera partners with Latina women entrepreneurs to launch social enterprises that foster cooperation, economic independence, and well-being in immigrant communities throughout the Bay Area. Prospera addresses challenges faced by Latina immigrants by offering Spanish-language business support, mentorship, and a peer network.

Jewish Family & Community Services  East Bay

Jewish Family & Community Services East Bay (JFCS-EB) serves new arrivals, immigrants, older adults, and families in Alameda and Country Costa counties. JFCS-EB is uniquely situated to serve Ukrainian new arrivals through the Integration Support program.

Canal Alliance

Canal Alliance works to break the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by lifting barriers to their success. Over the past six years, among all Bay Area counties, Marin has had the highest per capita number of unaccompanied minor youth released to sponsors. The Immigration Legal Services team is the only provider of  urgent free immigration legal services in Marin County to unaccompanied minor youth.

Tebeka provides free legal aid for Ethiopian Israelis throughout the country. Each year, staff attorneys respond to more than a thousand legal queries on time-sensitive matters of employment, education, housing, health and law enforcement for Ethiopian Israelis which strengthens their role as empowered citizens of the State of Israel.
