The results of Israel's recent elections created many echoes in the world and, as expected, also in world Jewry. The judicial reforms, which are progressing rapidly, raise many questions and provoke an important discussion on the issues of minority rights, women rights and the relationship between Israel and world Jewry.

Join us for a fascinating and educational conversation with Dr. Nida Shagari and Adv. Netta Loevy, co-directors of the 1325: Women, Peace and Security project at Itach Ma'aki Women Lawyers for Social Justice in Israel. We will hear about the work of Itach Ma'aki and how the latest developments in Israel affect the safety of women, their rights and opportunities.

Dr. Nida Shagari is a Fulbright graduate and a graduate of the prestigious Mendel program for social leadership. She holds a PhD in International Politics from Aberystwyth University, Wales; a master's degree in journalism from Emerson College, Massachusetts; and a bachelor's degree in communication, journalism and English from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a lecturer, researcher and writer focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, media and politics, and the theories of social change. She is an activist with a commitment to the promotion of human rights and cultural diversity and a former journalist. She has authored a book titled, Israeli-Arab" Political Mobilization: Between Acquiescence, Participation, and Resistance.

Adv. Netta Loevy is the Director of Policy Advocacy at Itach-Ma'aki Women Lawyers for Social Justice and has been a staff attorney there since 2012. Prior to joining Itach Ma'aki, Netta was a documentary filmmaker and a journalist, and worked as a news correspondent and anchor-woman for Channel 10, as an editor at the daily Yediot Aharonot newspaper and as an editor and correspondent for several radio stations in Israel.
