Purim of Love

THE BETH AMI PURIMSPIEL: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BAY AREA

This year, the Beth Ami Spielers are setting our Persian story in San Fran.  This year, it’s the Purim of Love. So while we’re talking about 480 BCE, we will simultaneously be in 1967.

In the summer of 1967, idealistic young people were streaming into San Francisco. Some of them were planting vegetables at Lou Gottleib’s Morningstar Commune in west county. Some of them were singing with Shlomo Carlebach in the House of Love and Prayer. Some of them might have been you. You know who you are. So, were those the good old days?

Did 1967 change the world? As it turned out, we may not have had all the answers, but we did have rock and roll. That includes music from Cream, The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, The Stone Poneys, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Otis Redding, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Buffalo Springfield, The Mamas and the Papas, The Youngbloods, and more: even the Turtles. Our band members are so happy....

Two Purimspiel performances. Tickets will be available at the door, but contact the office  at 707-360-300 or office@BethAmiSR.org to pay in advance for Will Call. Avoid the Havdallah rush.
