Violins Of Hope Concert

Strings of Resilience

World-Famous “Violins of Hope” coming to San Mateo

Violins of Hope is a collection of restored violins, violas, and cellos that were played or hidden by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. These instruments have survived pogroms, ghettos, concentration camps and long journeys. They represent remarkable stories of injustice, suffering, resilience, and survival. The restorations were carefully done by famous Israeli violin maker Amnon Weinstein and his son Avshalom. We are grateful that the East Bay Holocaust Education Center is bringing the world-famous “Violins of Hope” tour to the Bay Area and has generously made the instruments available to Bay Area organizations.

Chabad is incredibly honored to host four of these beautifully restored instruments, to be accompanied by Cantor Aryeh Hurwitz, an international singer whose brilliant tenor voice has been featured all over the world.

Their powerful stories will come alive again as we hear their music perform Yiddish Theater, Broadway, cantorial and Israeli tunes.

We are privileged to welcome Leon Malmed, WWII Holocaust survivor, to share his own story of survival in Nazi occupied France. Leon is the author of “We Survived… At Last, I Speak."
