Lily Robinson
Lily Robinson was born in Bulgaria in 1939, shortly before war broke out. In 1943, Lily’s family was given two days notice to evacuate to the countryside near the Greek border. Halfway to their destination, the Nazis made all the Jews disembark and they spent several days in a cold train station. They ran out of food and water and heard rumors that they would be taken to the concentration camp Treblinka. The Church and the people of Bulgaria intervened and the train was allowed to continue to relocate the women and children in the countryside
