Escalation of Violence in Israel

San Francisco, CA – Statement from Danny Grossman, CEO of the Federation:

"As violence in Israel escalates, our hearts are heavy. Terror attacks targeting Jews have become disturbingly frequent in the past two weeks and have created a constant state of alarm. Let us unite in our condemnation of all terror and violence. Such acts are abominable and do absolutely nothing toward advancing peace.

"I was just in Israel this past week and felt firsthand the new sense of terror. I was one block away from a stabbing in Tel Aviv. As we drove through traffic, emergency vehicles approached dramatically and the fear and concern in the air were palpable. Israelis I spoke with that day and throughout the trip were profoundly troubled in a way I'd not seen before. They didn't know what to expect ---- there was no apparent pattern to the attacks.

"Let us never become desensitized to violence and terror, let us express our love and support for our cousins in Israel, and let us work toward a lasting and meaningful peace. We continue to believe that a two-state solution borne of face-to-face negotiation and dialogue is the only path to peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians.

"Our hearts are with the many victims and their families."
