The SF-Based Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund Appoints Seth Brysk as Chief Officer of External Affairs and Partnerships

San Francisco, CA – On July 25, 2023, the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation) announced the appointment of Seth Brysk as Chief Officer of External Affairs and Partnerships, effective August 16, 2023.

“On behalf of the Federation and the Jewish community, I am pleased to welcome Seth to the team,” said CEO Joy Sisisky. “This new position is instrumental in driving our mission forward by being the brand champion at all levels of our organization.”

Seth’s appointment completes the Federation's executive team as they embark on the first year of implementing their strategic plan.

“As the center for Jewish philanthropy, the Federation is a hub of innovation, leveraging strategic partnerships and community building for the benefit of all stakeholders,” said Brysk. “I am thrilled to join the leadership team to contribute nearly three decades of experience and relationships across and beyond the Jewish community.”

Brysk most recently served as Central Pacific Regional Director at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), representing the agency to elected, religious, civil rights, and education leaders, technology influencers, law enforcement, and diplomats in Northern California, Utah, and Hawai’i. During his tenure, he played a critical role in enacting an inclusive hate crime law in Utah and was also presented with ADL’s Senn/Greenberg Award for professional excellence.

Previously, he was AJC’s Los Angeles Regional Director, JCRC’s Israel Center Director in Boston, and San Francisco Hillel’s Executive Director. Brysk also served in the Israel Defense Forces and organized Palestinian-Israeli dialogue groups.

He is a former cabinet member of the American Zionist Movement, provisional delegate to the U.S. State Department Committee on Religious Freedom, and representative to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. The Republic of Poland honored Brysk as an Officer of the Order of Merit. The FBI Director recognized Brysk with the Community Leadership Award for his service and commitment to justice. And Gavin Newsom appointed him to the Governor’s Holocaust and Genocide Education Council.

Seth earned degrees from UC Berkeley (Political Science) and Tel Aviv University (International Relations).

Joy added, "Seth's extensive expertise, strong ties to the Jewish community and Israel, and ability to foster relationships will forge partnerships with local Jewish agencies, policymakers, partners, and industry leaders—all united with a common purpose of building thriving Jewish communities in the Bay Area.”
