This Weekend's Violence in Las Vegas and Edmonton

San Francisco, CA – We are saddened and deeply troubled by Sunday evening's mass shooting at a country music concert in Las Vegas that has left at least 59 dead and more than 500 injured, and by the weekend attacks in Edmonton, Canada, that left a police officer and at least four others injured.

These attacks are just the latest instances of senseless violence that terrorizes innocent people everywhere and must come to an end.

We send our sympathies to the families and friends of those murdered and our prayers for a speedy recovery to those injured. May their memories be a blessing.

With so many hundreds wounded in Las Vegas, hospitals are in urgent need of blood. We urge those who are able to do so, regardless of where they live, to donate blood.

As we prepare to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot, may we find ourselves sheltered by a "sukkat shalom," sukkah of peace.
