The Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (the Federation) of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties is a philanthropic catalyst, connecting Bay Area Jews – of all ages, backgrounds, and perspectives – to the power we have as a community to improve the world. FEDERATION PHILANTHROPY PARTNERS PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Federation helps donors make their philanthropy more effective. Through the generosity of about 1,000 donors, the Federation grants over $200 million a year, both locally and globally, to a variety of secular and Jewish causes. Federation Philanthropy Partners works with these clients, who all have unique situations and varying degrees of need for our guidance.  Our aim is to be a trusted advisor, and to inform, educate, inspire, and challenge philanthropy driven by Jewish values, and the philanthropists in our communities. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Federation seeks a Marketing Manager who will develop and implement a marketing plan for Federation Philanthropy Partners aimed at acquiring new donors, retaining existing donors, both directly and through their financial advisors. This work will support the implementation of a growth strategy that has the goal of becoming a preeminent philanthropy practice in the Jewish world, a trusted advisor to generations of Jewish philanthropists, and a pacesetter in philanthropy. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Design and execute the annual marketing plan for Federation Philanthropy Partners, collaborating with philanthropy and marketing teams
  • Develop a messaging framework for use in digital and print content
  • Write a range of marketing and educational content to support initiatives, such as emails, videos, blogs, website banners, and content, sales collateral and event presentations
  • Oversee communications look and feel, keeping in mind the overall client experience in terms of voice, content, style, quality, brand, and frequency of contacts to clients
  • Deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from ideation to execution
  • Develop positioning for new products and platforms, working closely with colleagues to outline key features, client benefits, and competitive advantages
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, helping to prioritize objectives and identify the right strategy and tactics to support business partners’ goals
  • Keep track of deliverables and progress across projects to effectively manage work, often with tight deadlines
  • Measure and report performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against goals

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of service marketing experience, with marketing philanthropic services preferred. Marketing experience in financial services a plus
  • Strong client focus and ability to think in terms of the client experience/perspective
  • Knowledge of the business, market environment and ability to drive outcomes based on desired client experience
  • A proven track record of developing and executing effective marketing initiatives, analyzing results and continuously improving
  • History of executing successful multi‐channel promotional programs
  • Strong knowledge of marketing best practices, strategies and channels
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects with short timelines; well versed at connecting strategic objectives to tactical implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including marketing/creative, copywriting, editing, proofing
  • Strong persuasion skills with the ability to tell a story
  • Self‐motivated with solid judgment and ability to think clearly and form a point of view
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for the Jewish community preferred
