Highlights include Diwan Saz a Jewish-Muslim-Christian ensemble from Israel featuring piyutim, or Jewish liturgical poems, and Bedouin folksongs by a 14-year old prodigious singer; a World Premiere by jazz bassoonist Paul Hanson; a Punjabi-bhangra-Yiddish-funk party band Sharabi; Cantor Jack Mendelson sings classical hazonos (Jewish liturgical music). Sway Machinery fronted by Jeremiah Lockwood (of Balkan Beatbox fame), the women’s vocal ensemble Kitka, including a tribute to Ronnie Gilbert of the folk music revival group the Weavers; a pop-up community chorus of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, a reprise of last season’s hit musical theater piece Di Megileh of Itzik Manger, dance workshops, the Instant Klezmer Mandolin Orchestra and finale dance party with Veretski Pass.
