Shared Society in Israel Giving Opportunities

Israeli society is made up of a multitude of diverse communities, cultures, social groups, and nationalities, with four main ‘tribes’—secular, ultra-Orthodox, Arab, and religious Zionist. These ‘tribes’ essentially lead parallel but disconnected lives: they live in separate towns, with varying degrees of access to education, employment opportunities, media sources, and infrastructure to connect them to one another. Government coalitions with members from these various sectors of society come together and dissolve, leaving efforts to govern collectively in limbo and repeatedly sending Israelis back to the polls.

The Federation invests in partnerships with Israeli organizations that aim to change the social structure in Israel to be more equitable and integrated. We prioritize working with organizations that represent all facets of Israeli society and forge relationships based on belonging, mutual commitment, and ownership of a shared future. The work of our partners includes approaches such as community organizing, coalition-building, and cross-sector partnerships.

Our colleagues in the Federation's Israeli office have deep knowledge of the Israeli NGO landscape and contributed to create this guide. These organizations were curated by our professional philanthropic advisors and informed by the organizations our donor-advised funds support. We encourage you to consider supporting these organizations as part of your giving strategy.
