The Healing Power of Camp
Announcing Jewish overnight camp scholarships for families impacted by the North Bay wildfires
The North Bay wildfires that ravaged Sonoma and Napa Counties last October were the deadliest in California history. With people perishing and thousands of buildings burned to the ground, families were displaced into an already crowded housing market.
One of our strengths as a Jewish community has always been harnessing our networks in the service of people in crisis, responding quickly and effectively wherever tragedy strikes. Our staff and members stood ready to help by donating their time and their dollars to the North Bay Wildfire Emergency Fund. Although the headlines have subsided, the long-term recovery still continues.
Recognizing the healing power of overnight camp, special scholarship funding is now available for Jewish youth and teens for the 2018 camp season.
An allocation from the North Bay Wildfire Emergency Fund will subsidize the financial aid needs of campers from Sonoma and Napa counties.
New and returning campers are eligible for the following Jewish overnight camps in Northern California:
- URJ Camp Newman
- Camp Tawonga
- JCC Maccabi Sports Camp
- Camp Ramah Galim of Northern California
- Eden Village West
- B’chol Lashon
Applicants should apply directly with the participating camps.
Funding is made possible by the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund and The Jewish Federation and The Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay.
